My name is Adam Noble. I am a 19 year old, grade 12 student at Lakefield District Secondary School. I have been involved with science fair projects for four years. This research has allowed me to participate in science fairs in Canada, the United States and in Europe. The most exciting experience that my research has given me was attending the Nobel Prize Symposium and Ceremony in 2012 where I presented my project to the Nobel Laureates. Contributing to my school and my community is important to me. As Vice President of the student council, I help to improve the experience of students at our school. I am on the school Nordic skiing and rugby teams. During high school, I have earned two medals at OFSSA for Nordic skiing, several COSSA medals for Nordic skiing and rugby and a Silver medal for cross country running at the provincial club meet. Outside of school, I Nordic ski race provincially with the Kawartha Nordic team and volunteer every week helping patients at our local hospital. I hope to pursue a career in medicine and continue to contribute to society in a positive way. I believe that I will make a difference in our world.
This study developed a new tumour-targeted therapy that was tested with success on four cancer cell types (Neuroblastoma, Cervical Cancer, Lung Cancer, and Basal-Cell Carcinoma). Here silver nano-particles (SNPs) were targeted to tumours, shrinking their size and preventing metastasis. My SNP Therapy offers new treatment options and resolves many problems associated with other nano-particle therapies currently in use, including the gold nano-particle drug-delivery platform.
