What is your opinion on the recent Russian developments on the science of head transplants? Would this be ethical? If you perform a head transplant, like the one going on in Russia, will the person who receives the head still be them? Or will they be the donor?
That sounds like a philosophical question to me - a bit beyond my capacity. I think the only right answer: we don't know yet. Let's see how it turns out for the guy with the first head transplant. And is it ethical? Ethicists do not try to divide the world in two - that which is ethical and that which is not ethical. Rather, they try to define boundaries based on reasonable arguments. This would be a good case for such a discussion.
